An attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most people cutting hair at the same time fell short in the city of Valencia on Sunday. The event that gathered around 2,000 people was organised by the 'Beauty Valencia' Hairdressing Fair to raise awareness about brain damage.
Footage shows hairdressers with scissors in their hand, counting down before kicking off the record attempt.
"Today we are going to achieve two things. Give visibility to the world of beauty - we are important and we are here in difficult times, the hairdresser is very supportive. But we also want to give visibility to what is not seen: brain damage," said Lola Torrente, President of Association of Adult and Minor Brain Injury (ADACAM).
Participants needed to do around 1,300 haircuts within 20 minutes- a goal that was not reached.
However, funds were reportedly raised for the fight against brain damage and, in addition, hair strands of more than five centimetres (1.9 inches) have been donated to make wigs for cancer patients.
