SOT, Margaret Heart, Local resident: "I think it's a shame, I saw the pictures of the vandalism earlier. I would have really loved to see the Banksy but I understand that, you know, it's very tempting to try to attack it I also wish they knew how to draw a heart cause tagging yourself was not very good."

SOT, Troy, Local resident: "I think it's quite, there's an irony to it, the fact that Banksys and graffitis are illegal anyway, and for somebody to come along and put graffiti over the top of that again, I think it's something that I can't really make too much sense of. I think on the one hand, you expect it because as I said it's graffiti, but on the other time I think there's a wider appreciation of who Banksy is, what Banksy does and to see it vandalised is still I think a bit of a disgrace."

SOT, Troy, Local resident: "I think the reason people probably vandalised this, and I've seen what the vandalism looked like as well, is very lowbrow sort of graffiti written over there. It's just how to make a statement knowing that is going to be, I think, seen globally as soon as somebody does any form of graffiti too. A Banksy it's going to be noticed, it's going to be recognised visually, it's going to be recognised globally. Doesn't make it any better, there's no real justification for it, but I see why it get's done, cause it's graffiti and that's what happens to graffiti."

SOT, Celine, Local resident: "I think it's particularly sad, something wasn't done to protect it immediately. I think it's very predictable that something would happen. And now Bristol's lost a beautiful piece of art, unless they can rectify it."

SOT, Yosuf, Local resident: "It's a bit disappointing, because we came down to have a look at it this morning but unfortunately they've graffitied it even further, so we are not even able to actually see it but apparently they are going to put some glass up and cover it over so we'll be able to see it on Monday."

SOT, Yosuf, Local resident: "No, it's just like I said, it's good there's quite a few in Bristol and it's just a shame, that someone when he puts them up that they get disfigured so quickly."

The artwork located in the Barton Hill area of the city, was vandalised by a pink fluorescent graffiti before it was covered to prevent further damage.
"I think it's a shame, I saw the pictures of the vandalism earlier. I would have really loved to see the Banksy but I understand that, you know, it's very tempting to try to attack it," stated local Margaret Heart.
Another resident, Celine, shared Margaret's views by saying: "I think it's particularly sad, something wasn't done to protect it immediately. I think it's very predictable that something would happen. And now Bristol's lost a beautiful piece of art, unless they can rectify it."
The artist Banksy confirmed that the artwork of a girl firing a slingshot of red flowers was his by posting images of it on his Instagram account and website on Valentine's Day.
